Description
Crated exhibit materials moved regularly during a three-year tour of various U.S. Museums.
Challenge
The customer wanted to reduce transportation costs and improve product handling. The customer had experienced product damages, late truck deliveries and a lack of warehousing space at certain times of the year.
Solution
Assembled a core group of drivers dedicated to the pick-up and delivery of the exhibit for the entire tour. These drivers traveled together as a team, following each other in a caravan, to ensure they were on time at origin and destination each time the exhibit was moved. Because the same drivers always handled the product and moved as a team, damages and late deliveries were eliminated. Our ability to work together with other logistics providers allowed us to find and use warehouse space during the peak summer months for movers.
Results
Contracting with a dedicated team of drivers for the entire tour reduced costs and late deliveries. A team approach and regular handling of the product eliminated product damages. Access to the warehouses of other providers supplied available storage space during peak season.
